Raleigh, North Carolina: Friday, May 28 officers responded to Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Cemetery where they found 69-year-old James Lacy Taylor "suffering from serious injuries. He was transported to the hospital where he was declared deceased."
Now, three individuals, all teenagers, have been arrested and charged in connection to his murder.
The first person taken into custody was 19-year-old Maria Elizabeth Pena-Echeverria. She was arrested Saturday and is being held in the Wake County Detention Center on a charge of murder.
Media sources give her age as 18, but jail records list her age as 19.
Yesterday information was released that two others were taken into custody in connection to the murder.
19-year-old Johnathan Daniel Villanueva-Galder was arrested yesterday and is also being held in the Wake County Detention Center on a charge of murder.
The third suspect is identified only as a 16-year-old male.
The investigation launched after a witness called 911 repotting that she had witnessed two men and a woman leaving the area in older-model vehicles from where she found blood and clothes on the ground. She stated that the vehicles took off in the direction of Reedy Creek Road.
The cemetery is located near the 245-acre Carl Alwin Schenck Memorial Forest, on Reedy Creek Road, approximately 10-minutes from the North Carolina State University campus.
Friday night an alert was sent to students alerting them to the homicide.
