
Yorktown, Virginia: Kristen McAllister, an English teacher at Tabb High School has been charged with two counts of taking indecent liberties with a child by a person in a custodial or supervisory relationship and two counts of misdemeanor contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
The married mother of two was arrested on the morning of Thursday, June 9, 2022. She has since been released on bond.
The York County School Division issued a statement saying that they "were informed of an allegation of unprofessional conduct by a school employee involving a minor. We immediately reported the allegation tot he York-Poquoson Sheriff's Office and turned the matter over to law enforcement."
Their statement went on to assure the public of their commitment to the safety and well-being of their students saying, their hiring procedures "involve mandatory and thorough background checks and fingerprint clearance."
Without naming McAllister, they stated that she was not permitted on campus or other YCSD property while the investigation remained ongoing and that once completed, they would "follow division policy regarding employment status."
The York-Poquoson Sheriff's Office stated that the initial report they received was of "an inappropriate relationship between a teacher and students."
