Registered sex offender accused of offering $100,000 for girl
Port Orange, Florida: 85-year-old Hellmuth Kolb is once again behind bars after attempting to purchase a 8-year-old child from her mother on Tuesday, August 16 while they were leaving the grocery store.
Kolb, a registered sex offender, was arrested on Thursday, August 25 and ordered held without bond at his first court appearance.
According to WESH, when questioned about the incident Kolb laughed and told officers, "We all like kids."
After a similar 2018 incident in which Kolb grabbed a girl, kissed her wrist, and offered $200,000 for her, he was ordered to register as a sex offender, barred from future contact with minors, and ordered to be accompanied in public locations such as grocery stores.
According to WOFL, the child in 2018 was also 8-years-old.
While at the grocery store on August 16, not only was Kolb unaccompanied, but he was still on probation from the 2018 offense.
The Port Orange Police Department is asking that anyone that may have had similar encounters with Kolb contact Detective Nugent at (386) 506-5894 or through email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
"We would appreciate any additional information that can be provided."
