A woman came forward to the Somerset police and reported that she had been taken advantage of to the sum of over $70,000 which led police to open an investigation on December 17th.
“You need to understand how good these con artists are at duping vulnerable people,” Bob Nygaard, a retired New York City officer with experience tracking psychic scammers said. “People should not feel ashamed about coming forward.”
What the woman told police was that the psychic she had been seeing, 37 year old Tracey Milanovich, had convinced her that her ten year old daughter had a demon. In order to remedy the problem, cash and household goods “were needed in order to banish the spirit from her daughter.”
According to a 2018 South Coast Today article, Milanovich, owner of Tracy's Palm and Card Reading, said that her abilities have "been in her family for five to six generations." She further explained to the paper that "she started to experience her psychic abilities on her own without any guidance, but then her mother and grandmother helped her to understand her gift and how to control it and have a normal life."
Police obtained an arrest warrant and arrested Milanovich on December 27th. She was charged with six counts of Obtaining Property Over $250 by Trick, one count of Larceny Over $1200 and an additional charge of Intimidation of a Witness.
Her arraignment was on December 30th in Fall River District Court, and she was released on her own recognizance.
Police are asking that anyone else who may have been victimized by Milanovich contact Somerset police officer Donald Cormier at 508-679-2138.
“It’s important for people to realize that this happens to a lot of educated people. No one is immune to falling for a con artist," Nygaard said.
