On July 15th, police were called to the the 3000 block of Wharton Street in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at about 10:00 am.
People in the area first noticed the gray container that had been wrapped with cellophane several days earlier. As the days progressed, they became aware of the smell coming from it.
“It smelled like feces so I thought it was trash,” neighbor Sonja Sanders told CBS. “I didn’t think nothing of it.”
“Trash day was yesterday and they moved it today,” an unnamed neighbor said. “So we wouldn’t have even known if the trash man came.”
Today, police appealed to the public for help in identifying the woman by releasing information concerning her clothing, approximate size and distinctive tattoo.
The woman is described as being between 5 foot 5 and 5 foot 7 inches tall with straight, dark colored hair and a green tattoo on her left shoulder. Her clothing was described as multi-colored Lidly leggings, size L-XL, and an army green Forever 21 tank top. She was reportedly wearing an ace bandage on her right forearm.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Philadelphia police at (215) 686-1232.
