Brooklyn, New York: Saturday, January 29, 40-year-old Kenji Francis was arrested after his uncle discovered his mother lying in her own blood with injuries to her face and neck.
Officers arrived and found Francis still in the home. When asked what had happened, he allegedly responded saying, "What happened is I slit her up."
Francis had no previous criminal record or history of mental illnesses.
Reportedly suffering from at least 15 stab wounds, his mother, 61-year-old Tracey Syndor was rushed to the Brookdale University Hospital where she was pronounced deceased.
Syndor had been serving as the executive pastor at the Upper Room Baptist Church. A post on Facebook asked for prayer for her family and the church and promised additional information in the days to come.
Francis was arraigned in Brooklyn Criminal Court yesterday on charges of murder and weapon possession. He was ordered held without bail.
