Oklahoma City, Oklahoma: A father took matters into his own hands last Wednesday after his 9-year-old son reported that a man had touched him inappropriately at the school bus stop earlier in the week.
The father remained near the bus stop in his vehicle, and recorded the events that transpired.
"While [the father] was watching the school bus stop," Sgt. Dillon Quirk with the Oklahoma City Police Department told News 9, "our suspect ran by him, ran past the bus stop where the children were waiting. [He] turned around, came back and stopped where he touched the child."
The father then confronted the man, later identified as 33-year-old Michael Eric Coghill, and tacked him to the ground when he tried to flee the scene.
By the time that officers arrived Coghill had a skull fracture and cracked left orbital socket.
Coghill was taken to the Southwest Medical Center where he was evaluated by doctors. Once it was determined that surgery was not required, he was booked without incident into the Oklahoma County Jail on a charge of lewd/indecent acts to a child.
Lakehoma Church of Christ, where Coghill served as a discipleship minister, learned of the arrest through social media posts and issued a statement Thursday night indicating that they would be cooperating fully with the investigation and had removed Coghill from his position on the staff.
"Mike has a clean background check, and we have received no reports or claims against him during his tenure at Lakehoma," the statement read in part. "We will be fully cooperating with law enforcement as needed."
Kfor has confirmed that prior to his employment at Lakehoma Church of Christ Coghill worked at Choctaw Church of Christ.
Officers have not stated whether or not the father will face any charges.
