45-year-old Jeffrey James Exon was arrested yesterday after the Shawnee County District Attorney Mike Kagay filed three charges against him over the death of his 2-year-old daughter.
Exon was scheduled to make his first appearance in court earlier today to answer to charges of first-degree murder, committed during an inherently dangerous felony, aggravated endangering of a child and failure to report the death of a child.
Officers with the Topeka Police Department were first dispatched to a home on January 5 at about 10 am for a call of an unresponsive toddler. Upon arrival, they found 2-year-old Aurora Exon deceased. It appeared as though she had been dead for several days.
Just recently the Shawnee County Coroner's Office finished the autopsy and determined that her cause of death was homicide.
The last time that Aurora had been seen alive was December 26, 2020.
