An investigation was launched in November 2019 after a report was filed with officers at the Lake Elsinore station concerning sexual abuse of a minor, then 12 years old.
Over the course of the investigation, authorities determined that the abuse had begun about 7 years ago when the child was 5 years old.
An arrest warrant was obtained for 25 year old Guillermo Cuevas, and on last Friday he was taken into custody without incident in Norwarlk.
He remains in custody at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Riverside County in lieu of $1 million bail.
According to his inmate records, he is charged with 50 counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14, at least 20 counts each of sodomy with a child under 10 and oral copulation with a child under 10, and one count of continuous sexual abuse of a child.
Cuevas is scheduled to appear in the Riverside Hall of Justice on February 5th at 8:30 am.
According to the Press Enterprise Cuevas has no prior felony convictions in Riverside County.
