Las Vegas, Nevada: The Clark County School District Police Department announced on Facebook, the arrest of 34-year-old Michael Loyd on suspicion of engaging in sex with a student.
Loyd has been employed by the school district since January 2016 and was a teacher at Palo Verde High School.
According to the statement released by the CCSDP, Loyd will be assigned to home "per the negotiated agreement with the bargaining unit." His listing on the staff page of Palo Verge's website however, has been removed.
According to Network in Vegas, Loyd was a Special Education Teacher at the school as well as a basketball coach. His began coaching in October of 2015 according to his Linkedin profile.
Lloyd was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on charges of gross lewdness, engaging in sex with a pupil 16 or older, and possession of a dangerous drug without a prescription.
"The arrest stems from an investigation initiated at Palo Verde High School on May 25, 2022," CCSDP Lt. Bryan Zink said in the statement.
Loyd's initial court appearance took place on Thursday, May 26, and he is scheduled to be back in court next Wednesday.
