Another case in Ohio, this one at Brigid Catholic School in Xenia, took place on Monday, August 24 during an open house at the school.
35-year-old Reid C. Duran is accused of entering the school at about 6:45 pm where he reportedly began to ask families about their children.
School administrators confronted Duran, and he explained that he was there because he was the father of a 5-year-old girl. Duran is said to have then begun speaking with a young girl in one of the classrooms. When her parents observed what was happening, they called 911.
Xenia Police arrived and spoke with Duran who "made some concerning comments" about his reasons for being there.
He reportedly told officers initially that he was trying to get to Kettering Health- Green Memorial, but then later admitted to going to the school in order to "talk to little kids."
At the police station, while waiting to be interviewed by a detective, Duran is said to have attempted to stab a Xenia police officer with a pen. Duran was taken into custody and the officer was not injured.
Later, during the interview, Duran is said to have admitted that he went to St. Brigid in order to kidnap a child.
He has been charged with felonious assault, attempted kidnapping, attempted escape, and criminal trespass. He is scheduled to be arraigned in court on Monday, August 29. He remains in custody at the Greene County Jail.

The men demanded their valuables and then reportedly took the child from the vehicle as well, and fled.
A short time later, the child was safely recovered after being left on the side of the road.
