Anderson Warren, a High School math teacher with Narragansett Regional School District based in Templeton was arrested last August 22nd, on charges related to child pornography. At the time of the arrest, the school district, where he had worked for two years, placed him on indefinite leave.
Last August, police interviewed Anderson as a part of an ongoing investigation into the use of an app named Kik with regards to distribution of child pornography. According to NBC, Dropbox is also part of the investigation.
Allegedly, when asked if he knew why the police were there, he responded, "Because of my internet activity." When interviewed, Anderson allegedly confessed to accessing websites on the dark web to obtain child pornography.
Anderson allegedly told investigators he was interested in child porn depicting boys as young as 8 years old, but according to Mass Live, Federal agents discovered child pornography including a video of a man repeatedly assaulting a naked 4-year-old girl and an image of a girl between the ages of 3 and 5 being assaulted by a man among the thousands of images found on his computer.
The Narragansett Regional School District cooperated with the Federal investigation. In a statement, Superintendent Christopher Casavant wrote, "We have been advised by the Department of Homeland Security and local authorities that at this time there is no evidence of localized victimization of any student, past or present, during Mr. Anderson's two year tenure with the District."
Charged with one count each of receipt and possession of child pornography, Anderson entered a guilty plea in federal court on July 23rd. He could receive up to 30 years in prison when he faces sentencing on October 16th.
