
Enoch, Utah, A small community north of Cedar City is reeling after eight family members. three adults and 5 minors, were found with gunshot wounds following a welfare check conducted on Wednesday, January 4, 2023.
In a release issued by local police, they stated, "At this time, we do not believe there is a threat to the public or that there are any suspects at large. This investigation is still active and more information will be provided at a later time."
"The most important thing that we can say right now is that this community is feeling remorse, feeling pain," Rob Dotson, city manager said in a video sent to KSL. "There are friends and neighbors and family members who are hurting because of this incident. We don't know why this happened, and we're not going to guess. We're going to continue the police investigation."
Dotson is anticipating that there will be more information released on Thursday morning.
Due to the size of the community, Dotson said "we all know this family, Many of us have served with them in church, in the community, or gone to school with these individuals."
"This community at this time is hurting. They're feeling loss, they're feeling pain, they have a lot of questions, which is natural," Dotson said.
"It is overwhelming and appreciated," Dotson said of the support that has been coming in from across the nation following the news of this discovery breaking. "We appreciate th4e prayers that are being prayed on behalf of this family, and those who love and care for them."
Desert News reports that neighbors spoke with media saying that the family was very welcoming and involved in the community as well as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. There was nothing that made them think that something like this could occur.
