Yugar, Brisbane: On the night of Thursday, November 3, 33-year-old Reinhardt Bosch and his partner, 22-year-old Noemi Kondacs, were arrested and charged with the torture and murder of their 7-month-old son, Ruan.
Ruan's body with "visible injuries" was found at about 6:45 am that morning.
Queensland Police Detective Inspector David Jackman told SkyNews, "From what I've seen, the child was not neglected in terms of nourishment and such, but it's quite confronting."
"It certainly hits home," Jackman said. "I have been a detective for 30-odd years, and it is one of the most confronting scenes I've seen."
At this time detectives believe that the injuries Ruan suffered were inflicted between April 11 and November 3 when his body was found.
"The circumstances leading to the death we will allege have happened in the last 24 hours."
Investigators are looking into whether or not religion played a roll in the events, disclosing that the couple was found to be praying over their son's body while they awaited the arrival of emergency services.
"At this stage, we will be going back through family history, speaking with family and seeing if they were aware of anything that may have led to this," Jackman said.
Previous to their arrests, police indicated that the couple was not previously known to law enforcement. Bosch, who worked as a youth carer, was charged with murder, torture, and assaulting Ruan with an offensive instrument. Kondacs has been charged with murder by reckless indifference and torture.
Bosch and Kondacs were arraigned in court on Friday, November 4, 2022.
