Ogden, Utah: Police in Ogden Utah arrested a couple on Saturday, March 26 on charges of child abuse after an officer saw video footage of abuse of two children.
Jared Michael Hamilton and Mercedes Barbara Compton, both 29, were seen in footage using an "electronic shocking device to physically discipline her children who are 5-years-old and 6-years-old," according to a probable cause affidavit seen by KSTU.
Footage reportedly showed the two children handcuffed together and Hamilton shocking the 5-year-old boy who attempted to evade. He was unable to avoid the shock though, due to being handcuffed to his sister.
Hamilton was later observed shocking the girl on her back.
Compton then allegedly took the device from Hamilton and waived it in front of her two children before shocking her son, and attempting to shock her daughter.
Hamilton and Compton have both been charged with two counts of child abuse- intentionally inflicting serious bodily injury. They both remain in custody at the Weber County Jail without bond.
KSL reports that their initial court took place on Wednesday, March 30.
The current placement of the children was not disclosed by law enforcement.
