Baby stabbed more than 100 times and left outside of a temple

According to the Times of India, this is the third such incident in two weeks.

On the morning of September 24, residents discovered the remains of a 2-day-old baby girl, wrapped in a shawl, abandoned outside of a local temple in in Bhopal’s Ayodhya Nagar.  Initially people suspected that the child had been abandoned and then killed overnight by some kind of animal, but an examination revealed that the girl had been stabbed more than 100 times by a sharp implement described as a "screwdriver-like tool."

“The police sent the body for post mortem and its report received on Tuesday revealed that the child was attacked with a sharp tool multiple times on the stomach and back,” Renu Murab, Independent quoted a police inspector for Madhya Pradesh Police, as saying.

Police are reviewing surveillance footage from the area and the death is being investigated as a homicide.

Investigators believe that the child was born at home before being murdered and dumped.
