Uthai Sawan, Nong Bua Lam Phu, Thailand: 34-year-old former police officer Panya Kamrab has been identified as the perpetrator of a mass shooting that began in a daycare and ended at his home with the murder of his wife and child before he turned the gun on himself.
According to local media Kamrab was fired from the police force last year following an arrest for possession of methamphetamine.
The shooting began at about 12:30 pm local time on Thursday, October 6. At the daycare 24 children and at least 2 adults were reportedly killed. Most of the children were reportedly around the age of two-years-old.
After leaving there, Kamrab is reported to have shot more individuals as he drove back to his home. It appears that another 10 people were injured, with six listed initially as being critically injured.
At home, he shot his wife and 4-year-old child before taking his own life.
Local hospitals are asking for blood donations to assist with treating the injured.
The motive for the shooting remains unknown with local investigators believing that Kamrab may have been under the influence of drugs at the time.
Kamrab was scheduled to appear in court on Friday related to the drug charges that led to his dismissal from the police.
